Description
Main access is via Swillow Lane, Rolleston, a mile and a half rough track with 2 locked gates (combination) leading to the top end of the fishery. Vehicles can be parked behind each peg via this access route. Alternative access by turning into Staythorpe Power Station. After pedestrian crossing on access road, turn right through a gate (combination) and follow track to a car park. No vehicular access to pegs via this route. Heading right (upstream) from the car park, a short walk leads to the last peg (40). Many of the pegs have level platforms made from recycled plastic with the appearance of wood. The stretch holds a good head of Roach plus skimmers, Bream, Chub, some big Perch and a few Barbel. The resident Bream shoal generally live around the 20’s but can turn up anywhere. This section lends itself to float fishing, particularly the waggler, with a slow flow and reasonable depth along the length. The fishing is particularly good when there is extra water in the river.
