Description

This stretch of the River Trent lies to the south west of Newark. Access is via a locked gate into a car park between the villages of Farndon and East Stoke on the former A46 Fosse Road. This fishery has recently been extended and now comprises a total of 55 pegs of stepped Matlock stone approximately 30 yards apart. All but the the first 12 pegs (upstream from the car park) can be parked behind via the new access track. N.B. on the newly acquired extension (peg 27 onwards) vehicles must not be driven onto the flood bank. Please also note that there is no access to the newly acquired pegs via the track off Fosse Road nearer to Farndon which was historically used for this fishery under previous control. The upstream section lies on the outside of a slow bend with a good depth close in. The new downstream pegs start on the inside of a bend which unwinds to a straighter section further down. Barbel, Chub, Roach and Bream thrive and Barbel well into double figures are regularly caught. Good roach weights are possible in favourable conditions
