Description
To access the fishery, turn right opposite the Lord Nelson pub in Winthorpe (Holme Lane), go over train line and turn immediately left (gate with Federation combination lock). Vehicles can be driven along the river (Winthorpe fishery) to the car park underneath the A1 road bridge. Subject to ground conditions, and strictly at the discretion of the bailiff and Committee, vehicular access may be permitted through the locked gate to the riverbank beyond. The fishery starts just below Tubular Bridge with pegs 1 to 17 being on the Dyke. The remaining pegs (18 to 43) are on the main river. This stretch, like Winthorpe, is popular with specimen anglers with reports of some huge Barbel being caught. There is a large shoal of resident Bream around Crankley Point where Trent and Dyke converge. For many years, the upstream section towards Tubular Bridge was considered by many to be the best on the Trent but is more lightly fished these days.

PLEASE NOTE – Night fishing is now prohibited at this venue.
